Dear Fellow Lions and Leos,

 

District 33 A has been participating in the Young Ambassador’s Award program during the past few years.  We have been extremely pleased with the response and are quite astonished with the outstanding accomplishments of the applicants.

 

This is not a lot of work for your Club. This year the form has been put on the District 33-A website, you will find it under Young Ambassador. Please download the form, read the requirements, noting the deadlines, and offer this opportunity to your local High School.  The award will be presented to the winning candidate at the Mid-Winter Saturday luncheon.

 

Enclosed is the criterion for this year’s sponsorship

 

1.      No Chairperson required.

2.      No Club judges or judging required.

3.      No composing instructions or filling out applications.

4.      No fee is required.

 

THE ONLY REQUIREMENTS OF YOUR CLUB ARE AS FOLLOWS:

 

1.      Provide the enclosed instructions and application form to the High School in your community.

2.      Present your candidate with a suitable cash award for being chosen as a Lions Young Ambassador of the 21st Century.

3.      Forward the completed application no later than Thursday, December 1, 2011.

4.      If your candidate is selected as the “Young Ambassador of the 21st Century” your club will be responsible for providing the meal expense for the candidate and parents/guardians during the Saturday noon luncheon at the Mid-Winter conference on February 11, 2012.

1.                  Encourages them to seek experience in community involvement and leadership. 

2.                  Increases awareness of community service opportunities and organizations.

3.                  Recognizes the value of their achievements.

1.      Furthers the Lions motto, “We Serve” by encouraging young people to pursue community service  involvement.

2.                  Renews Lions member’s enthusiasm and commitment to youth and service, through exposure to

3.                  committed, enthusiastic young leaders.                     

4.                  Strengthens public awareness of Lions and their youth and service initiatives.

5.                  Introduces young people to future service and leadership opportunities.

 

LIONS YOUNG AMBASSADORS OF THE 21ST CENTURY

 

 

 

Present the school with the applications. Ask if they will choose the finalist.  If not, have the applications submitted to your club with ample time to go over the applications and

choose a winner.

 

The Schools deadline is Friday, November 18, 2011.

 

Send in your club finalists’ application to this committee before Thursday, December 1, 2011 to:

Your clubs involvement is completed unless your candidate is declared a winner.

 

The judging will proceed as follows:

 

1.      The committee will make copies of the applications and submit them to the Region Chairmen for their vote.

2.      The Region Chairmen will score the applications according to the criteria provided by International.

3.      The scored applications will be sent back to the Committee. Deadline is Saturday, January 7, 2012. The committee will then calculate the scores and the winner will be chosen.

4.      The Committee will then notify the Club whose applicant has won the award.

 

The Young Ambassador of the 21st Century Award will be presented at the Lions Mid-Winter Conference Saturday noon luncheon on February 11, 2012.  The winner will be presented with a plaque and a cash award.

 

If the winning applicant is from your club you will be responsible for the meals of the student and his/her parent/guardian.   Any one else that wishes to attend the ceremony will be welcome at their expense.
