At the start of this new Lions Year we will be Charging Forward to wipe out blindness. Working with 1^st VDG John and 2^nd VDG Dennis and the cabinet we will be out assist the clubs and you the volunteers. It is you, the volunteers, who make it happen and you are the reason we get it done. The International President’s wish to plant a million trees could not have come at a better time for District 33A. The devastation that occurred in our district because of the tornado will require thousands of trees to be planted to stop erosion. The Lions will be there to help. The International President’s theme is “I Believe” and I believe that we will have a great year, support our local communities and all the Lion Charities. I will work with you to make it a great year and if there are any needs please be sure to let me know.

Dear Fellow Lions of District 33A,

Here we are at the start of a New Lions Year!  I’m here in Seattle at District Governor’s Training, trying to learn to be as good a District Governor as our IPDG Mark. He is one tough act to follow.

I’ve just heard an inspirational speech from International President Tam; who’s 2011-2012 Theme is “I Believe”.  Being from Massachusetts, we have been “believers”  since 1620 through 1776 until today.  How appropriate for this Independence Day Convention!

IP Tam is pleased to challenge the Lions of the World to plant 1 million trees this coming year.  By my figures, with 750 Districts worldwide, our District 33A needs to plant 1300 trees.  Normally this would be hard but let’s turn a tragedy into a positive and reforest our neighbors affected by the Tornados of June 1^st!  We will be looking into resources to obtain these trees at the lowest possible cost.  As always, Lions will rise to the challenge and make the best of the worst.

When my Training is complete I look forward to returning to our Awesome District to prepare for another great Lions Year, Charging Forward.
